If you are a member, there are discounts to conferences and trainings. We also have a local book club which is called TAR , Teachers as Readers. These books are picked by the group and are paid for by our TAR funds.
In August, the ORA, provides Leadership Training to four of our council leaders for no cost. They pay for hotel rooms, meals and the training. There are also opportunities to attend board meetings throughout the year. URC provides professional development at least two times a year at no cost. All of our websites include volunteer opportunities, access to learning and networking with other professionals. Including professional organizations and your involvement in them are helpful to include in your resume when looking for employment. These are just a few benefits. I almost forgot to mention that ORA awards ten $300 grants for literacy and a $1500 technology grant every year. Contact any of the board members for information. We hope to see you this year!
